The pre-sessional meeting of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is held in Inari, Finland, at the Sámi Cultural Centre Sajos from 10 to 14 February 2020. The special theme for the meeting in 2020 is peace, justice and strong institutions. Members of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and UN officials will attend to the pre-sessional meeting. The purpose of the pre-sessional meeting is to provide newly elected members of the Permanent Forum (2020-2022) the opportunity to meet for the first time, to exchange information on their activities and work, and to discuss and prepare the upcoming session.

UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is inviting Indigenous peoples organizations to an open meeting in Sajos, Inari on 13 February 2020 (Address: Sajos, 99870 Inari). We kindly ask your organization to come with your agenda that you want to share to Permanent Forum members. Registration for the meeting is requested no later than 7th of February 2020 to johanna.alatorvinen@samediggi.fi. Please provide the names of participants when registering. Before the event, we will announce a more specific time for your organization (between 9-17.00). The meeting is in English and interpretation into Spanish and French.

In addition, a specialized training on Indigenous Reconciliation will be organized in Sajos, Inari 15-16 February 2020. The training is organized by Research Professor (Mason University), Senior Advisor (Deaconess Foundation) Antti Pentikäinen, Mr. Eduardo González and Anne Nuorgam in cooperation with Oulu University Giellagas Institute. The training is free of charge but requires registration by 7th of February 2020 to sari.enkkela@hdl.fi. Everyone takes care of the meals and accommodation by themselves. Program will be sent after registration. The training is in English and Spanish.
